Project Red
Lacey Green, Buckinghamshire
DESIGN: Our clients, alongside Lee + Wilkinson Architecture.
CONSTRUCTION: Barr Build
BRIEF: Light, aspect and connection were the driving forces behind this modern kitchen. With a strong desire for this pivotal space to interact with the property’s sculpted gardens and adjacent flint-walled dining terrace, the layout of the space demanded seamless transitions and optimised flow. The design phase of the project allowed for experimentation with a wide variety of finishes, leading to a playful and dramatic combination of contrasting textures and colours.
CABINETRY: Modern slab doors and drawer fronts to the sink run, island and larder niche are painted in Fired Earth’s striking ‘Hustle at 5pm’, with inset cut-out Joseph Giles handles. In striking contrast, a set of eight full-height cabinets, incorporating an oven stack and luxuriously ample storage, are curated from perfectly aligned fluted walnut. A retractable central pocket door system offers additional workspace, and touch to open end panels reveal further shelved storage cabinets.
FITTINGS: A simple stainless steel Quooker tap sits central to the triple undermount sink, flanked by Italian white Lapitec worktops. An eye level Miele oven stack and integrated dishwasher, as well as Sub Zero refrigeration bring maximum functionality and efficiency to the space.
